What are contact lens durations?
If you’re wondering, ‘how long do contact lenses last,’ then we’re here to give you the answer! Contact lens durations refer to how long you can wear a pair of lenses after opening. For instance, you can get single-use or daily lenses. These lenses can only be worn for one day after opening, and must then be disposed of. Lenses with a longer duration, such as monthly or 90-day reusable lenses, can be used for longer, provided you use the right cleaning and storing processes in between uses. 1 Day Lenses
1-day lenses are single-use. They can also be called ‘daily lenses’ or ‘disposable lenses’. When you receive these, you’ll need to prep them for use just like any lenses, but once you’re done using them, you don’t need to worry about cleaning or storing them- simply throw them away! 30 Day Lenses
30-day lenses can be used for 30 consecutive days after opening. In between uses, make sure to follow all of our cleaning and storing instructions, and you’ll be able to use the lenses for the entire month! 90 Day Lenses
Our longest available duration is 90-day lenses. These last for 90 days consecutively after opening. That means that they give you a full 3 months of wear! Of course, this makes them our most expensive lenses, but make sure that you do the math- for contact lens lovers, a 90-day lens can get you the same wear as 90 daily lenses or 3 30-day lenses, but for a fraction of the price. Lens Durations vs Expiry Dates
We’ve gone over all of the lens durations we offer, but contact lenses also have an expiry date. So, what’s the difference? And can contact lenses expire?
Essentially, lens expiry dates work the same as with any perishable product. If a lens goes past its expiry date, it’s no longer safe for use and should be thrown out. On our website, you’ll be able to pick your desired duration. When you receive your packaging, you can check that the duration is right, but you should also check the expiry date and make sure that you’re not using the lenses past their expiry.
