Step 1- Checking Your Lenses
So, you’ve just answered the door and received your parcel of Coloured Contacts lenses. You might think that the first thing to do is open them up, but WAIT! As contact lenses are a hygienic beauty product, they cannot be returned if the packaging has been opened. That means that it’s always best to do a few checks before you’ve even opened the box, so that if they’re not what you want, you can send them back without a hitch.
Here is what your contact lens packaging might look like:
What to Check-

First, read the name on the box itself. Does it sound like what you ordered?

Check the duration, measurements (diameter and base curve), and prescriptive strength. These are all elements that you picked out when you ordered the lenses, so make sure that they’re right.

Next, the expiry date- make sure that your lenses are in date and good to use for their entire duration.

Most of our packaging will have a little window in it (see above). This means that you can view the actual lenses themselves before opening the box. Check for any visible damage or debris.

Finally, you can open the box, open the blister pack, and check for any damage that was hard to spot from the outside.
What do I do if my lenses are wrong or damaged?
If your lenses aren’t what you’re expecting, then you can return them to us at no extra cost, and we will either exchange them for another pair or refund you. You can find more information about our returns policy here.
Top Tip: As we’ve mentioned, we only accept returns of unopened boxes, due to hygiene reasons, so make sure to decide if you like the lenses or not BEFORE you open them. Of course, if you open the packaging and find that the lenses are damaged, that’s not your fault. If that happens, you can email some photos over to our customer service team, who’ll be happy to help.
Step 2- Prepping Your Lenses
Once you’ve made absolutely sure that you’re happy with your lenses, you can begin prepping them for wear. If you’re new to wearing contact lenses, you might not know that you can’t just put them straight from the packaging into your eyes. That’s because the blister packs contain a harsh preserving solution. It’s designed to keep the lenses fresh, but it’s not designed to go in your eye, so it may irritate you. That’s why you need to prep your lenses.
How to Prep the Lenses-

Wash your hands and dry them, making sure that your nails are trimmed and that there’s no dirt or dust on your fingers.

Take the lenses out of their packaging, holding them gently between two fingers.

You’ll need eye safe solution, an anti-bacterial solution that’s gentle on your eyes. Use this to rinse off the lenses.

You’ll also need a sterile contact lens case, perfect for storing the lenses before and in between uses. Place your lenses in the case, and pour a few drops of eye safe solution over them, until they are fully covered.

Leave the lenses to soak for at least 2 hours.

Now you can wear your contact lenses!
Top Tip: You should only ever use eye safe solution for cleaning and soaking the lenses. Any other substance, even tap water, contains harmful bacteria that could damage the lenses or your eyes. You can read more about contact lens solution here.
