Annabelle Doll Costume Ideas With Contact Lenses

Annabelle is the title of the 2014 supernatural horror movie that follows a possessed doll and her new owner. It is part of The Conjuring franchise and focuses on the origin story of the Annabelle doll. Thought to be based on a possessed raggedy Ann doll, Annabelle is made to look extra freaky. She is a porcelain doll with large eyes and a wide smile. Her innocent features such as braided hair and white lace dress add to the creepiness of her appearance in the shadows. The first Annabelle film introduces the doll being added to a collection in a child’s nursery but they soon discover that Annabelle is the host of an evil spirit. There are two further Annabelle films, Annabelle: Creation and Annabelle Comes Home. Annabelle: Creation is actually a prequel to the original film that explores the story of a girl named Annabelle who dies and haunts her house. In the third installment, Annabelle Comes Home, the doll awakens other demon spirits as she yet again wreaks havoc on an unsuspecting family.

Annabelle makeup has been popular during the Halloween season since the doll first hit the movie theatres. This creepy doll is perfect for Halloween as you can DIY your own costume and practice your SFX makeup skills. To create your Annabelle costume you will need a lacey white dress with a red sash, painted porcelain doll face or mask, braided hair or wig and dolly eyes. Changing your eye colour to a bright unnatural shade is essential to any doll costume but in particular, Annabelle costumes

Annabelle is usually shown with yellow or blue eyes but in our opinion, it is more about the effect than the colour. Enhancing your eyes to make them look round and shiny will give you a dolly eye look that is enough to terrify the most hardened horror movie fans. Here are some of our top picks for Annabelle contact lenses:

  • Angelic Coloured Contact Lenses - Available in blue, yellow, green and white; these lenses have a black limbal ring to create a dolly eye design.
  • Manson Coloured Contact Lenses - Available in blue, green, orange, white, and black; these lenses have a contrasting limbal ring and vibrant pigment for a creepy horror effect.
  • Blue Coloured Contact Lenses - Styles such as Aqua Blue Ice Walker, Blue Super Sky, Blue Elf, Aqua Mermaid, and Blue Shiva offer a bright costume blue tone that is perfect for Halloween doll costumes.

@mulan_mtz has created this amazing textured womens Annabelle Halloween costume featuring a painted dress, dolly features and braided hair. Dolly makeup is a great opportunity to experiment with SFX techniques. Annabelle’s distinctive look is very creepy when seen on a human face, making it perfect for Halloween. To complete the eerie look of Annabelle, @mulan_mtz has added Yellow Avatar Coloured Contact Lenses. Adding a bright pair of costume coloured contact lenses is the perfect way to complete your doll face illusion. Mulan’s Annabelle has already been wreaking havoc as you can see from the cracked face and blood splats on this Annabelle doll costume.

@hollymurraymakeup went viral with her Annabelle video. This audio is perfect if you plan to make Halloween or horror shorts whether you are on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. Make sure to practice lip syncing and keep an even facial expression. Holly is amazing at creating detail in her painted clothing. Practicing some shading on your Annabelle costume makeup can make all the difference to the final result.

@margaridamonteiro.mua has opted for a blue painted dress and red pops of colour in her Annabelle horror costume. We love the colour choices for this spooky doll costume. The red coloured contact lenses, hair ties, cheeks and lips are perfect for creating bloody Halloween vibes. The clever contoured and shining makeup is essential for creating a porcelain effect on your skin.

Just remember when you create your Annabelle costume for women it is the details that make all the difference. Adding coloured contact lenses to the final look and texturing the makeup to give a shine to your skin are essentials for the Annabelle doll. The deep grooves around her mouth and nose give her a distinctive look from other dolls and if you copy the Annabelle costume you will look just like the horror movie character.
